I've always been drawn to making and creating since I was young, and if I wasn’t making art, I was probably reading, or building some other imaginative world.
After receiving my BA in English from the University of Virginia in 2017, I followed my love of stories into the classroom, earning my MA in Elementary Inclusive Education from Teachers College at Columbia University and later moving to the Colorado mountains to teach elementary school. Teaching provided me with the opportunity to develop my visual storytelling muscle in collaboration with dedicated and inspiring educators, working together to make content accessible, relevant, and engaging for our entire learning community. My work is greatly influenced by my time in the classroom, and in particular the goofy, intelligent, and kind students that I taught. Being a teacher will always be an important part of who I am.
Since leaving the classroom, I have dedicated my time to developing my art and storytelling practice. For me this looks like creating art from a place of joy and healing, designing in collaboration with mission-driven organizations, learning with students and families, upcycling fabrics into quilts and garments, or telling and illustrating stories that explore themes of shame, grief, and mental health.
In addition to my art work, I am a professionally trained birth doula based in the DMV/Baltimore area, supporting birthing people and their partners as I work toward certification. I offer compassionate, evidence-based care throughout pregnancy, birth, and early postpartum. I prioritize emotional support, comfort measures, and informed decision-making, ensuring that clients feel safe, supported, and empowered in their birth experience.
