About Me

After receiving my BA in English from the University of Virginia in 2017, I followed my love of stories into the classroom, earning my MA in Elementary Inclusive Education from Teachers College at Columbia University and later moving to the Colorado mountains to teach elementary school. My work is greatly influenced by my time as an educator, and in particular by the goofy, intelligent, and kind students that I taught. Being a teacher will always be an important part of who I am.

Since leaving the classroom, I have dedicated my time to developing my art and storytelling practice. For me this looks like creating art from a place of joy and healing, designing in collaboration with mission-driven organizations, learning with students and families, leading adult workshops and class series, welcoming imperfection in creating through the Imperfect Quilt Club, upcycling fabrics into quilts and garments, and telling and illustrating stories that explore themes of shame, grief, and mental health. Lately, I’m especially excited about wearable upcycled pieces and can’t wait to share more of that with you.

My Process

I prioritize creating in a way that is kind to both our earth and the people who inhabit it. This involves upcycling, thrifting, natural dyeing, and sourcing locally when possible.
